Music Classes @ YAMS

We do offer class music lessons at Young America Music. They are a great way to get introduced to your instrument, or to see if your youngster is really THAT interested in pursuing lessons.

Each class has different instruments attending - but that's no problem because Emmett has written a book used in the class that can use just about any combination. The music is emailed to the class members, so everyone has something to practice at home and to bring to play with the entire group.

Here's a quick look into a class, shot with an iPad.

YAMS JAM March, 2013

We had a big jam back in March, which pulled together many of the veteran players from the Macon area. There was about 4 hours of music played that night - this is a nice little snapshot of the evening!

It took awhile to get the video edited together [we were pulling together audio from one gizmo, and video from two dinky digital cameras].

The video is over at

Banjos in the Closet.....Oh, My!

YAMS is an authorized Deering Banjo and Weber Mandolin dealer. We keep several in stock - and some of our higher-end instruments are stashed in the "Banjo closet".

These instruments make an excellent investment for any player seeking a quality instrument. They will last a goooood looooooong time, and it's a rare player who will "outgrow" one of these babies.

....and special YAMS pricing makes them that much more attractive. So come on by the store and take a look!

Mackie: Speakers, Power, and even a SUBWOOFER!

All of these are at an incredible YAMS "Beat the Internet Guys" Price - come on by the store and take a listen!

At YAMS we have a couple of these great LITTLE speakers in stock [but we can ALWAYS get more!]

As Mackie says:

The built-in three-channel mixer features two combo XLR/line inputs (with true 48V phantom power), a stereo channel for CD/MP3 players, and Mackie's powerful 3-band Active EQ. The SRM150 can even be mounted on a mic stand, making it the ideal personal monitor. Put simply, with its tremendous feature set and 150-watts of world-class sound, the Mackie SRM150 is the perfect solution for any application requiring superior sound quality.

THREE channels, 150 watts, and it can mount on a mic stand?

Wow - and at a YAMS price that beats the internet guys...but you'll have to swing by the store to see what it is.
[Sorry - it's a lawyer thing....]

The SRM1801 is a THOUSAND watt subwoofer that can [but doesn't have to] shake your socks clean off your feet. here's what Mackie says:

What does 1000W of peak power mean to you? It means having a subwoofer that delivers rump-shaking bass night after night. It means getting class-leading power and output. To accomplish this, the SRM1801 features Class-D Fast Recovery™ amplification. Class-D amps are more efficient and lightweight, with far less waste heat produced versus competing designs. Fast Recovery means you can occasionally push into clipping without a ton of nasty distortion. So, power is no problem... but how does it sound? The SRM1801 benefits from built-in Active electronics, like a precision crossover and tuning filters for accurate bass response. Some subwoofers have decent power, but when you listen, everything sounds loose and flabby. The SRM1801 delivers professional low end that you can feel...custom tuned to be tight and punchy.

In the Middle is the SRM450, a powered loudspeaker that is "just right". This is a lightweight portable powered speaker with high quality electronics inside that will produce a clean musical sound.

• 2-way bi-amplified, optimized Active loudspeaker system
• High-output precision titanium compression driver
• 12″ lightweight long-throw low frequency transducer with 3-inch voice coil
• Servo Feedback controlled woofer for tight low-end punch
• 300W class-D, Fast Recovery LF amp / 100W HF amp
• Ultra-wide, smooth dispersion via multi-cell horn aperture and HF waveguide
• Built-in phase-accurate 24dB Linkwitz-Riley electronic crossover
