Roland Demo Day - Saturday June 5th

Roland Demo Day @ Young America Music School:
Coming Saturday June 5th

YAMS will host our first Roland Demo Day on Saturday, June 5th. We'll be featuring performances by Macon's own Matt Moncrief as well as the Mosely Dixon Project (all of whom teach at the store).

After the performances the guys will split out and demonstrate, along with Roland rep Dan Quisenberry, a whole slew of interesting gear from Roland, Boss, and Edirol.

Tom Rule will be talking about keyboards & combo amps & music technology in general,
Mark Williams will demo Roland's electronic drums and the Rock-Band compatible software that's available,
and Bobby Hall & Matt Moncrief will talk guitars and Boss effects pedals.
Dan Quisenberry will float, answering all those questions the other guys can't answer.

We're trying to talk Dan into doing some of the killer demo stuff he does - we hear he's incredible!

We’ll have 2 sessions:
one from 11:00 to Noonish,
and the second from 1 - 2 pm(-ish!).

No registration needed – but please share the word on Facebook, email, or tell a few people. It’s sure to be fun!

(oh, yeah – free hotdogs, too!)

Roland HD-1 digital drums - AFFORDABLE QUALITY!

Roland HD1 drums at YAMS

Roland’s V-Drums are the most popular electronic drums in the world, but not everyone has the room or budget for a full V-Drums kit. Introducing the new Roland HD-1. It's forged from the same technology as its predecessors, but it's much simpler to use. It’s also incredibly quiet, thanks to the newly designed kick beater, cushioned tom pads, and snare head. The HD-1 is also conveniently compact and stylish — perfect for every home, school, studio, etc. — and it's priced for the masses. Most of the HD-1’s components are mounted on one stand for easy setup and transport, and for a clean look. Just take it out of the box and play.

It might look small, but the HD-1 sounds and performs impressively large. With Roland’s legendary V-Drum know-how at the core, this little kit is a dream for first-timer or casual players as well as for parents, since the volume level can be completely controlled via volume knob and/or headphones.

What is the HD-1? It's an all-in-one drum kit for those on a budget......and even more affordable at the YAMS "beat-the-internet-guys" pricing. Come on down and take a look!

Jumbi steel drum

jumbi_drum at YAMS

OK, this one is just cool, and tons of fun to play with. It's a genuine steel drum, complete with stand and "mallets", that has a surprisingly good tone. While I think it's really meant for the education market - to be used in a music classroom - it would make  great addition to any studio or band. For that matter, a playroom!

It offers an octave's worth of notes from the major scale, and works well with guitarists playing in sharp keys. If you don't know what that means, don't worry about it - it's just fun, and the design makes it hard to hit a "clam" note.

We've had a ball doodling with it at the store - Emmett & Peggy both have had to chase the teacher's off of the thing when we're between students!

Guitar Teacher (and member of the Mosely Dixon Project) Bobby Hall was even caught on camera playing with the Jumbi!
