Deering Banjo: The Boston

[caption id="attachment_368" align="aligncenter" width="294" caption="Deering Banjos at Young America Music"][/caption]

For parking lot picking the Boston rings out loud and clear.

The thick steel rim [which is unique to the Deering line] produces a sound similar to a bronze tonering and enables you to get a much more affordable banjo.

The Boston provides exceptional tone, which is far superior to the tone of the die-cast brass tone-rings or aluminum rims of the imports.

Hey, playing is always more fun when you enjoy the sound of your banjo!

The Boston has the same adjustable mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, mother-of-pearl dot inlays, and satin finish as the higher-priced Sierra. The primary difference is in the drum assembly which is a 3/16" thick steel rim but rings like a tone-ring. The 24-piece flange and steel rim give you a very bright, sparkling, crisp tone. We use high quality sealed guitar-style tuners because they provide a 6:1 gear ratio for accuracy in tuning. The fifth peg is geared as well.

The 24-piece flange design allows you to convert this banjo to open-back by removing the flange pieces and resonator.

You'll progress much faster and enjoy playing more with a Boston compared to a lower priced import that's hard to play. The Boston banjo makes playing easier because the banjo works with you, not against you.

The Deering Boston Banjo Features:

  • American Made

  • Tropical American Mahogany

  • Slender Deering Neck Shape

  • 3/16" Steel Rim, 24-Piece Flange

  • Geared Tuners

  • Nickel Plated

  • Satin Finish

  • Lifetime Warranty

Roland HD-1 digital drums - AFFORDABLE QUALITY!

Roland HD1 drums at YAMS

Roland’s V-Drums are the most popular electronic drums in the world, but not everyone has the room or budget for a full V-Drums kit. Introducing the new Roland HD-1. It's forged from the same technology as its predecessors, but it's much simpler to use. It’s also incredibly quiet, thanks to the newly designed kick beater, cushioned tom pads, and snare head. The HD-1 is also conveniently compact and stylish — perfect for every home, school, studio, etc. — and it's priced for the masses. Most of the HD-1’s components are mounted on one stand for easy setup and transport, and for a clean look. Just take it out of the box and play.

It might look small, but the HD-1 sounds and performs impressively large. With Roland’s legendary V-Drum know-how at the core, this little kit is a dream for first-timer or casual players as well as for parents, since the volume level can be completely controlled via volume knob and/or headphones.

What is the HD-1? It's an all-in-one drum kit for those on a budget......and even more affordable at the YAMS "beat-the-internet-guys" pricing. Come on down and take a look!

Need even more info? CLICK HERE to visit Roland's site, complete with audio and video!

Weber Mandolins at Young America Music

YAMS is an authorized Weber dealer, and has several Webers in stock. Come on by the store to take a look, and to see what the special YAMS "beat-the-internet-guys" price is!

Welcome to Weber

Bruce Weber started this business to be independent while doing what he loves, and provide work and a good living for other like-minded people.

As a Christian, Bruce tries to run his shop under Biblical principles. One that we are all familiar with is the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Customer Service is paramount at Weber.

All at Weber realize that a high-end, heirloom quality instrument is a major investment for most people. Thus, our goal is to provide you with the best hand-built acoustic guitars and mandolins in the world. You can be assured of not only excellence in quality, but reasonable delivery times and the best price.

Weber Fine Acoustic Instruments traces it's origins to Flatiron Mandolin and Banjo Company in Bozeman, Montana. Several of us also started around 1987 when Flatiron become part of Gibson Guitar. The 'Montana Era' of Gibson/Flatiron is remembered for the consistent, high quality of the instruments that were built here.

In 1996, Gibson decided to move Flatiron to Nashville. Paula Lewis, who many of you know for her years of excellent mandolin customer service and sparkling laugh, expresses it the best. "None of us were willing to move. We live in Montana because we like the scenic beauty of the mountains, the fresh air, and the people who live here. Bruce Weber, the general manager and head luthier of the Gibson/Flatiron Division found Sound To Earth, Ltd. so that we could continue to build the instruments that we love in the midst of the country we love."

In March of 1997 Bruce Weber, Joe Schneider, Bob McMurray, Steve Birch and Paula Lewis moved into the shop at Bruce's house excited to build acoustic instruments their way. They were soon joined by Helen Beausoleil and Vern Brekke and others who had worked with us over the years.

With orders coming in and an expanding line of mandolin family instruments Bruce moved the shop into Belgrade, Montana in 1998. It was a time of enormous creativity and around 20 different models of Mandolins were established with a Mandola, Octave and Mandocello in each model. These models cover the entire range of music genres through instrument design. Weber acoustic instruments cover many price ranges from affordability by offering models that are 'stripped down' to the basics to highly ornamental instruments with special woods- all offering the same detail in building and tonal excellence. There is always room at Weber for new ideas, while keeping the beauty and integrity of the traditional.

Deering Banjo: Golden Era at YAMS

Deering GOlden Era Banjo at Young America Music in Macon, GA

The Golden Era banjo is a unique model of the Deering line. It's designed to reproduce the most sought-after five-string banjos of the pre-war era. The Golden Era has a thicker neck shape which creates more sustain and a deeper resonator which provides that warm gutsy tone.

This banjo offers an ebony fingerboard. The flame Eastern hard rock maple of the neck and resonator are stained with a cremona sunburst stain. Mother-of-pearl inlays are the traditional "Hearts and Flowers" pattern.

The Maple rim is turned to traditional dimensions and mounted with a zinc flange, twenty-hole virgin bell bronze tone-ring and presto style tailpiece with careful attention to original dimensions to recreate the sound and performance traditionalists desire.

You can hear the sound of the Golden Era banjo on many albums by fine musicians such as John Hickman and Byron Berline's "Double Trouble" album, Josh Williams' "Old Town of Home" album, and on Herb Pedersen's Desert Rose Band album, "Life Goes On".
